About the job

Working neighbourhoods across HRM, talking to homeowners and booking in-person quote visits onto the calendar. You are not selling at the door and you never quote a price. You are booking a time for us to come and measure.

About 20 hours a week. Shifts run weekdays 3:00 to 7:00pm and Saturdays 10:00 to 4:00, and we need the same days every week rather than a different set each time. Expect to walk 6 to 8 km a shift, outdoors, in whatever the weather is doing.

Every booking is an hour of somebody's day, so real interest matters more than volume. We would rather you knocked fewer doors and booked people who actually want the work done.

What you would do

• Work assigned neighbourhoods on foot
• Ask whether they have painting or drywall work coming up
• Book quote appointments straight onto our calendar
• Record the name, address and contact details accurately
• Walk away from anything that is not a real fit

What you need

• 18 or older
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• Able to walk 6 to 8 km a shift outdoors in any weather, with or without accommodation
• A way to get to your assigned area. Own vehicle, a ride, transit, bike or walking all work
• No previous experience required

Pay is walked through in full at the interview, in writing, on the expectations sheet you get beforehand. You will not find out what the job pays after you have taken it.

Bonuses on top of the hourly rate

• $5.00 for every booked quote.
• $50.00 for every job signed off the back of one of your bookings, whatever the job is worth.
• $75.00 in any week you book ten or more.

The hourly rate is paid regardless of performance.

Benefits

• Every hour is paid. Training, ride-alongs, debriefs and walking between assigned streets all count. The base wage does not depend on whether you book anything.
• Paid training before you go out alone. Including a ride-along shift, and more paid training whenever the script changes.
• Booking bonuses on top of the hourly. $5 when an appointment you booked actually sits, $50 when it turns into a signed job, and $75 in any week you record ten or more qualified bookings.
• Bonuses are not clawed back once earned, and nothing comes off your base wage beyond the statutory deductions.
• Paid every two weeks by direct deposit with a statement showing hours, rates, bonuses and your vacation pay balance.
• Vacation pay at 4% of gross earnings, bonuses included.
• Sent home early still pays. If you report for a shift and get less than three hours of work, you are paid the minimum reporting pay.
• A phone for the role. If you would rather use your own, we put a data allowance on your pay instead.

How hiring works

We read every application and reply within 48 hours, including a no. You get the details in writing first: shift schedule, a typical day, targets and pay, before you come in rather than after you start. Then a 30-minute interview in person where we go through it together. If we both think it works, we sign and set your start date at that same meeting.
