Interior Painting in Halifax and HRM
A room can be painted in a day. Painting it so the finish still looks right in three years takes preparation nobody sees.
That preparation is most of what you are paying for, and it is the part most quotes leave out. We paint occupied homes and empty ones across Halifax Regional Municipality: walls, ceilings, trim, doors, closets, stairwells and basements.
What's included
- Furniture moved to the centre of the room and covered, floors covered wall to wall
- Holes, dents, nail pops and cracks filled and sanded flat
- Bare and patched areas primed before colour goes on
- Edges cut in by hand along ceilings, trim and corners
- Walls, ceilings, trim and doors, in whatever combination you want
- Hardware and switch plates removed and put back, not painted around
- Daily cleanup, and a full cleanup at the end
- A final walkthrough with you before we invoice
How we work
We look at the job in person
Photos hide the things that change a quote. Old plaster, a ceiling with a water stain, trim that has been painted six times already. We come out, measure, and look at what is actually on the walls.
You get the quote in writing within one business day
One price for the work as we have scoped it, in writing, with no obligation attached to it.
Protection goes down before anything else
Floors and furniture are covered before a lid comes off. This is not the step where we save time.
Then the prep
Filling, sanding, caulking gaps in the trim, priming bare and repaired spots. On a well-kept house this is quick. On an older one it is most of the job, and we will have told you that in the quote rather than discovering it halfway through.
Then the paint, then the walkthrough
Cut in by hand, rolled, and checked in daylight before a wall is called done. Then we walk every room with you. Anything you point out gets fixed before the invoice goes out, not after.
What your quote includes
This is the scope Shepard-Martinez already puts on every painting quote:
- Materials and consumables: paint, primer if needed, caulking, filler, rollers and brushes, tape, drop sheets
- Surface prep: light patching, sanding, cleaning, caulking, stain blocking where required
- Protection of your space: floors, furniture, trim and fixtures covered and masked
- Professional application: clean cut lines, consistent coverage, even finish
- Clean-up and disposal: space left tidy, materials removed
The paint is ours to supply and it is inside the quoted price. You are not making a second trip to the store.
Colour
You choose the colours. If you have not decided yet, that is normal, and picking a colour off a chip under a store light is the usual way people end up repainting a year later. We are happy to look at samples on your actual wall before you commit.
Winter work
Interior painting runs all year, and winter is usually the easiest time to get a start date.
