Draft, not yet live. The registered legal name is in (Marsel, 2026-09-05). Still needed: the retention period for quote requests that do not become jobs, the list of analytics or marketing tools actually switched on, and a read from a Nova Scotia lawyer before canvassers collect email addresses at the door. Swap the name to the incorporated one when the RJSC certificate lands. See NEEDS-CONFIRMING.md.
Shepard-Martinez Construction respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, what we do with it, and how you can see it, correct it, or have it deleted.
We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

What we collect
Through our website forms, by phone, by email, and in person when a member of our team visits your door:
- Your name
- Your phone number
- Your email address
- Your property address or neighbourhood
- What you have told us about the work you want done
- How you heard about us
We do not collect payment card details through this website.
Why we collect it
- To prepare and send you a quote
- To arrange a visit and schedule the work
- To contact you about a job in progress or a job we have finished
- To honour our workmanship warranty
- To keep records we are required by law to keep
- To understand which of our advertising is working, using the "how did you hear about us" field
We do not use your information for anything else without asking you first.
Consent
We ask for your consent before we collect your information, and we tell you what it is for at the time we ask.
Consent to be contacted about a quote is not consent to receive marketing email. Those are two separate boxes on our forms, and both start unticked. Ticking the first one does not tick the second.
You can withdraw consent at any time. Email marsel@shepard-martinez.ca and we will act on it.
Commercial email
If you have given us express consent to send you commercial email, every message we send will identify us by name, include our mailing address and contact details, and carry a working unsubscribe link.
Unsubscribing takes effect within ten business days, and it costs you nothing. You do not have to give a reason.
If a member of our team collected your email address at your door, they asked you first and recorded that you agreed. If you do not remember agreeing, tell us and we will remove you.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it, and we do not trade it. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, such as our website host and our email provider, and only to the extent they need it to do that work, and with anyone we are legally required to share it with.
Where it is kept, and for how long
Your information is kept in our business email and our website form records. We keep records for completed jobs for as long as the warranty runs, plus the period we are required to keep business records under Canadian tax law, currently six years. After that we delete them.
Keeping it safe
We limit access to your information to the people in our business who need it, and accounts holding customer information are password protected. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach happens that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you and report it as PIPEDA requires.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, to see it, to correct anything that is wrong, to delete it where we are not required by law to keep it, and to stop contacting you.
Email marsel@shepard-martinez.ca. We will respond within 30 days, which is the timeline PIPEDA sets. If you are not satisfied with how we handled your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update it on this page.
