Drywall Installation in Halifax and HRM
Drywall is judged under a roller and under a window in the late afternoon, not under a work light.
Seams that looked fine at the end of the day show up the first sunny afternoon, and by then the room is painted and the fix means starting over. We hang, tape and finish drywall ready for paint: basements, additions, garages, attics, and single rooms that got opened up.
What's included
- Board measured, cut and hung, walls and ceilings
- Screwed off to spec, joints staggered, edges landed on framing
- Corner bead set on every outside corner
- Taping and multiple coats of compound, each one wider than the last
- Sanding to a flat, even finish ready for primer
- Dust contained with plastic and taped-off doorways
- Offcuts and debris hauled out
- A final walkthrough with you before we invoice
How we work
We look at the framing first
Drywall only comes out as flat as what is behind it. Twisted studs, a joist sitting proud, or missing backing at a corner all show through the finished wall, and they are cheap to fix before board goes up and expensive after.
You get the quote in writing within one business day
One price for the work as we have scoped it, in writing. If you have a crew for one part and want us for the rest, that works too. We are happy to finish board somebody else hung.
We hang, then we finish
Finishing is where the time goes. Compound has to dry between coats, and rushing that is what causes cracked seams and shrunken joints later. A room that gets hung in a day is usually not sanded and ready the next.
We keep the dust in one place
Doorways get sealed and floors get covered. Drywall dust travels through a house and settles into everything, so containment is part of the job rather than an afterthought.
What your quote includes
This is the scope Shepard-Martinez already puts on every drywall quote:
- Materials and delivery: drywall, screws, tape, compound, corner bead as needed
- Labour for install and finishing: hang, tape, mud, sand
- Surface prep and protection: floor covering and plastic where required
- Clean-up and debris removal, jobsite left tidy
Level of finish
Not every wall needs the same finish. A garage or a utility room does not need what a front room with big windows and a flat sheen needs, and paying for the higher finish everywhere is money spent on walls nobody looks at. We will tell you which rooms need the extra coats and which do not.
Paint after
We paint what we hang, if you want it done in one go. Same crew, no gap between trades, and no argument later about whether a mark is a drywall problem or a paint problem.
